SPOTLIGHT ATHLETE – Josh Snorton

A young Christian County baseball team took its lumps on the way to an 8-20 record in 2021, but the Colonels have turned heads this season after winning their first 12 games on the way to a 22-3 mark as the regular season begins to wind down.

Senior OF Josh Snorton is one of the big reasons for the Colonel turnaround, forming a 1-2 power punch with junior Elijah Underhill that has the Colonels looking like a real threat to claim 8th-District and 2nd-Region titles in 2022.

The team’s resurgence coincides with a big jump in production for Snorton.  After hitting .309 with no home runs and nine RBI last season, he’s in the midst of a monster senior campaign.  Snorton boasts team-highs with a .433 batting average, 29 hits, and 33 RBI, and is second on the squad with four home runs.

Snorton credits an improved work ethic and long hours in the weight room for his power surge, and as a result, he’s caught the eye of coaches at the next level as well.  He plans to announce a commitment in the near future, joining a long line of Colonels to move on to the college ranks.
