Former Caldwell County Tiger Fonso White was an assistant coach on the winning side for the 17th annual Hoosier Gym Classic on Saturday.
The Indiana high school all-star basketball game is played in Knightstown’s historic Hoosier Gym, home to the Hickory Huskers from the movie Hoosiers.
Knightstown is about a 45-minute drive east from downtown Indianapolis.
Unlike in the movie, White’s Terhune team overcame a halftime deficit to defeat the Hickory team 121-117 in the all-star matchup.
White spent the last four years as boys’ basketball head coach at Bishop Luers in Fort Wayne, Ind.
White announced just over a month ago that he has stepped down from that post, but that he plans to remain in coaching.
He is a 1993 CCHS graduate.
