Caldwell’s Girls Beat Hopkins Central for 13th Straight Time

The Caldwell County Lady Tigers will be the No. 2 seeds for the 7th District tournament after winning at Hopkins County Central 14-3 in five innings in a makeup game on Monday.

Caldwell’s girls are now 12-8 overall and 4-2 in the district. Both district setbacks came to Madisonville-North Hopkins, which will be the No. 1 seed for the district tournament in two weeks.

A.J. Hollowell was 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs batted in and three runs scored in the win over the Lady Storm. Harper Holeman homered and went 2-for-3 with two RBIs while scoring three times.

Laney Jones was 2-for-4 and knocked in three. Alicia Stanley tripled as part of a 2-for-3 night and Adley Lewis was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The Lady Tigers never trailed, scoring five runs in the second inning and five more in the fourth to help put the game away.

Jackie Farmer was the winning pitcher. She allowed just one earned run on six base hits. Farmer struck out five and walked two.

Keira Bryan went 2-for-3 offensively for the Lady Storm.

The Lady Tigers have taken 13 in a row against Hopkins County Central and now trail the all-time series by just one game, 26-25.

The Lady Tigers are scheduled to visit Christian County Tuesday if the weather will allow. The Lady Colonels are 19-7 and have won four straight and eight of their last nine games.

Hopkins Central goes to Fort Campbell on Tuesday.
