The Hopkinsville Tigers were shut out for only the second time this season in Monday’s 3-0 loss at Paducah Tilghman. The Tigers drop their second straight to slip to 8-12 overall with a visit from Union County scheduled for Tuesday.
Paducah Tilghman’s Levin East made things difficult for the Tigers with 12 strikeouts, picking up his second victory over Hoptown with a complete-game four-hitter. The Blue Tornado improve to 18-5 ahead of home and away matchups with St. Mary over the next three days.
East helped himself with an RBI single in the bottom of the 1st and only allowed three Tiger baserunners over the first three frames. Paducah Tilghman took advantage of a Hopkinsville error to double the advantage, before adding a third run in the 4th on Caleb Payne’s RBI single.
Jacob Dilday took the loss for Hoptown despite a solid five innings on the mound. He allowed three runs, two earned, on six hits with a walk and five strikeouts.
Joseph Boor had three of the Tigers’ four hits, and Gavin Powell singled for the other.
