Caldwell’s Girls Avenge Early-Season Loss to Webster, 5-2

A four-run second inning was the difference as Caldwell County avenged an early-season loss to Webster County on Friday.

Alicia Stanley and Brylee Butts had home runs as the Lady Tigers claimed a 5-2 decision in the rematch in Dixon.

Caldwell, now 13-9, had dropped a 6-4 decision to the Lady Trojans in Princeton.

Stanley homered leading off the second inning to give Caldwell a 1-0 lead. Maci Tyler drove in a run with a groundout, Rylee Thompson singled in a run and A.J. Hollowell delivered a sacrifice fly to left as the Lady Tigers grabbed a 4-0 lead.

Webster (15-13) cut it to 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth.

Caldwell tacked on its final run when Butts homered to left with one out in the top of the seventh.

The Lady Trojans scored once in the home half of the seventh and had two runners on base when a line out to center ended the game.

Adley Lewis was 3-for-4 with a double for Caldwell. Butts and Stanley each finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. Thompson went 2-for-3 and drove in a run.

Jackie Farmer was the winning pitcher for the Lady Tigers, allowing seven base hits and three walks while striking out two. Both of Webster’s run were unearned.

Gracie Thomas, Mallory Leath and Alyssa Cartwright each went 2-for-3 for Webster. Thomas and Leath each had a double.

Caldwell’s girls will go to Marshall County on Monday.
