Rebels Overwhelm Heritage Christian 16-6 on Senior Night

The Todd County Central Rebels started fast and closed strong on the way to their 18th win of the season Friday night. The Rebels scored six times in the bottom of the first and five times in the bottom of the six, thanks in part to ten Heritage Christian errors, as they rolled past the Warriors 16-6 in six innings on Senior Night.

The Rebels were a cooperative source in their own right, being charged with four errors in the game, as Heritage Christian scored in every inning but the top of the fourth.

It was a Todd Central error that led to Heritage taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

HCA was charged with three errors in the bottom half of the inning as the Rebels came charging back to take a 6-1 lead. The Rebels also got RBI hits from Tanner Farmer and Gavyn Nolan in the inning.

J.J. Thompson drove in a run with a single in the top of the second to trim the lead to 6-2. A Todd Central error in the third allowed HCA to cut the lead to 6-3.

Todd Central used a walk, a wild pitch, and two Heritage errors in the bottom of the inning to extend the lead back out to 10-3. A pair of walks and a wild pitch saw the lead grow to 11-3 in the bottom of the fourth.

HCA used a couple of singles and a passed ball to make it 11-4 in the top of the 5th. Trenton Hayes and David Jent drove in runs with hits in the top of the six to cut the lead down to 11-6.

The Rebels then closed out the game with five runs in the bottom of the inning. Three walks and an HCA error were keys to the big inning. The final two runs of the game both scored on wild pitches.

For the Rebels, Devin Schutt had a big game at the plate, going 3-4 with 3 RBIs and three runs scored. Tanner Farmer was 2-4 with 2 RBIs.

J.J. Thompson was 3-4 for Heritage with an RBI and two runs scored. Trenton Hayes finished 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored. David Jent ended up 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored for the Warriors.

Jacob Brandon picked up the win on the mound for the Rebels. He went three innings giving up three runs, only one of them earned, striking out five and walking five.
