A five-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning was not enough for the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers Saturday afternoon. The Lady Tigers saw their regular season end with a 10-6 home-field loss to Community Christian.

The Lady Tigers entered the bottom of the sixth inning trailing 9-1. The first six Hopkinsville batters all reached base in the inning as the Lady Tigers scored five times to cut the lead to 9-6. Taylor Joachim had the big hit during the rally with a two-run double.

However, Joachim would be left stranded at third as the next three batters went down in order. After Community Christian got one of the runs back in the top of the seventh, Hoptown would go down quietly in the top of the ninth as CCA took the win.

Community Christian had taken an early 2-0 lead with runs in the first and second.

Jakayla Grubbs cut the lead in half with an RBI double in the bottom of the third.

CCA would plate two runs in the fifth and then five more in the seventh to put the game under control.

Fielding foes plagued the Lady Tigers over the course of the game. Hopkinsville was charged with five errors in the game. Hoptown’s pitchers also had their struggles on the day, walking eleven batters and hitting four more. Hannah Thorson did come up with 10 strikeouts in 4 1/3-innings of work.

Hopkinsville had a balanced day at the plate. The top seven batters in the order all had one hit each for the Lady Tigers.

The Lady Tigers finish the regular season at 8-16. They will take on UHA Monday night in the 8th District tournament semifinals.
