It was a ‘tale of two games’ Saturday for the Todd County Central Lady Rebels. In their doubleheader to close out the regular season, the Lady Rebels started fast in the opener and rolled to an 8-1 five-inning win, while Edmonson County returned the favor with a quick start in the second game on the way to a 5-1 five-inning win.

In the opener, the Lady Rebels plated two runs in the first on a single from Naomi Welborn. A three-run double from Abigail McPherson got things started in the second. Jocelyn Mock added an RBI double of her own. Mock would then score on a hit from Karli Herrera. The scoring ended with Herrera scoring on a ground out from Naomi Welborn.

Edmonson County would score their only run of the game in the top of the fourth.

Abigail McPherson had a big game in the circle, giving up one run on four hits, striking out eight while walking none.

The second game was almost an exact reversal of the first game. Edmonson County scored two in the first and three in the third on their way to a 5-1 win over the Lady Rebels. The Lady Wildcats roughed up starting pitcher Jocelyn Mock, scoring all five of their runs against her.

Edmonson would get five hits in the first inning and a third, but only three more over the final 3 2/3-innings. Abigail McPherson pitched the final 3 2/3-innings, allowing no runs and striking out seven Lady Wildcats.

Todd Central scored its only run of the game in the bottom of the second on a fielder’s choice from Lucy Cumbee.

With the split, the Lady Rebels end the regular season at 17-14. They are now off until Friday when they take on Logan County in the 13th District semifinals at Franklin-Simpson.
