Lady Wildcats Qualify for State Track Meet in Three Events

Trigg County had one region champion and qualified several others for the state meet following a fourth-place team finish at the Class 2A Region 1 Track and Field Meet Saturday in Paducah.

Fatu Crain won the 400-meter run with a time of 1:02.87 on a sunny and warm day at Paducah Tilghman High School.

Crain was also part of the 3200-meter relay team that finished second and secured a spot at the state meet.  Joining her on the team were Alliyah Thomas, Jessie Paulter, and Alex Smith.

Riley Brame took second place in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.27 seconds. The time was a personal best for Brame and the second-fastest in school history. It was also the fastest electronically timed mark by a Lady Wildcat.

In the team race, Calloway County repeated as region champ with 185 points, Paducah Tilghman was second with 150 points, and Caldwell County was third with 55 points. Trigg was five points back in fourth.

LADY WILDCAT REGION RESULTS

Fatu Crain – 1st in the 400-meter run (1:02.87); 3rd in the 200-meter run (27.03)

Riley Brame – 2nd in the 100-meter hurdles (18.27); 4th in the high jump (4-4); 6th in the 300-meter hurdles (58.82)

Alliyah Thomas – 3rd in the 400-meter run (1:05.64); 6th in the 200-meter run (29.36)

Alex Smith – 7th in the 800-meter run (3:02.50); 9th in the discus throw (55-10)

Alivia Norwood – 7th in the discus throw (66-10); 8th in the shot put (24-4)

Alesha Nyakeraka – 8th in the 1600-meter run (7:01.08)

Bella Moore – 11th in the 800-meter run (3:39.09)

The 3200-meter relay team of Fatu Crain, Alliyah Thomas, Jessie Paulter, and Alex Smith finished in second place in 11:12.09.

The 1600-meter relay team of Alliyah Thomas, Gabbi McGee, Jessie Paulter, and Evonna McGee finished in fourth place in 4:57.56.

The 800-meter relay team of Emma Dowell, Alivia Norwood, Alesha Nyakeraka, and Katye Birdsong finished in fifth place in 2:13.92.
