Tigers & Lady Tigers Pick Up Top 10 Finishes at Apollo

The Hopkinsville Tigers and Lady Tigers continued their preparation for the regional track & field meet Saturday by traveling to Owensboro for the Apollo Invitational. The Tigers returned home with a Top 10 finish, while the Lady Tigers came back with a Top 10 finish of their own.

The Tigers totaled 28 points on the day, good enough for 10th place at the meet, 17 points behind Apollo, who finished ninth.

Owensboro won the boys’ competition with a score of 122. Butler County was second with 97. McCracken County placed third with 95. Marshall County was fourth with 84.

Top finishers for the Tigers were:

Elijah Reed – 5th place – Boys 110 Hurdles
Sam Kanu – 5th place – Boys High Jump
Kemaure Mumford – 2nd place – Boys Long Jump
Boys 4 x 100 Meter Relay – 2nd place

In the girls’ meet, Hopkinsville finished the day with 56 points, good enough for an 8th place finish, 11 points behind Owensboro, who finished 9th.

Henderson County won the girls’ meet with 147 points. Apollo was second with 80.

LaTaijha Cherry – 7th place – Girls Long Jump
Lori Moyd – 4th place – Girls Shot Put
ShaKera Johnson – 6th place – Girls Shot Put
Girls 4 x 100 Meter Relay – 5th place
Girls 4 x 200 Meter Relay – 4th place
Girls 4 x 400 Meter Relay – 2nd place
