Former Caldwell County Tiger standout Derrin Boyd was at CCHS on Friday to see Jabrion Spikes sign with Georgetown College.

Boyd has spent the last three years at the NAIA school. After redshirting his first year, Boyd went on to become Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year in 2021 and was an All-Mid-South Conference First Team selection each of the last two seasons.

Boyd led Georgetown to a Mid-South Conference Tournament championship this past season and was named the 2022 Mid-South Conference Outstanding Player of the Tournament.

Boyd, a 2019 Caldwell grad, scored 945 points in two seasons of action while grabbing 256 rebounds, dishing out 149 assists and recording 55 steals.

But Boyd said in April he was leaving Georgetown. He later announced that he would be transferring to NCAA Div. I Lipscomb University in Nashville. Another former Caldwell standout, Eli Pepper, recently had a stellar four-year college career with the Bisons.

YSE spoke with Boyd on Friday about his time at Georgetown, seeing Spikes sign with that school, and Boyd’s move to Lipscomb.
