Former Caldwell County standout Noah Brown drove in the game-winning run last week as his Asbury University baseball squad won the National Christian College Athletic Association Mideast Regional championship.
Asbury (28-14) overcame a 6-1 deficit to defeat Oakland City University (31-23) 11-10 on Thursday in Grayson, Ky., to earn a berth in the NCCAA World Series.
Brown was 2-for-5 with two runs batted in during the contest. That includes an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning, capping a three-run frame and giving Asbury its one-run advantage.
Asbury, seeded No. 2, went 3-0 in the regional, starting with a come-from-behind 7-5 victory over host Kentucky Christian University on Tuesday.
Brown was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs in that game.
Asbury edged top-seeded Oakland City 4-3 on Wednesday before facing OCU again in the championship round of the double-elimination event.
Brown, a junior, is hitting .354 this season for Asbury, which is located in Wilmore, Ky.
He has also made nine appearances on the pitching mound, with a save and a 4.91 earned run average.
Brown was named to the NCCAA All-Mideast Region Second Team.
Brown is a 2018 Caldwell County High School grad. He was a part of two 2nd Region championship teams with the Tigers along with an All A Classic state runner-up squad.
Asbury receives an automatic bid to the NCCAA World Series in Kansas City, which begins later this week.
Asbury will play its first game against Kansas Christian at 6 p.m. on Friday.
