The Caldwell County Lady Tigers pounded out 18 base hits and used a 10-run fourth inning to put away Hopkins County Central 17-2 in 7th District semifinal action at Lady Tiger Field on Monday.

Alicia Stanley and Harper Holeman each homered for Caldwell. It was the 10th round-tripper of the season for Holeman and the ninth for Stanley.

Stanley, Adley Lewis and Laney Jones each had three base hits as the Lady Tigers improved to 15-11 on the season.

Holeman, A.J. Hollowell and Brylee Butts had two hits apiece.

Illysa Stallins allowed just two base hits in the pitching circle. She struck out three and did not walk a batter. Both Hopkins Central runs were unearned.

Hopkins Central (4-18) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, taking advantage of two Caldwell errors early.

The Lady Tigers countered with three runs in the bottom of the frame. Caldwell took the lead when Holeman alertly tagged up and scored from third on a foul pop-out to the catcher when no one covered the plate.

The Lady Tigers added two runs in each of the second and third innings before finishing the game on the 15-run mercy rule in the fourth.

Caldwell’s girls will try to stop Madisonville’s 7th District championship run Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The Lady Maroons have won the last eight district championships.

Madisonville beat Dawson Springs 15-0 in the other semifinal on Monday.

Both Madisonville and Caldwell have earned berths in the 2nd Region softball tournament next week at Henderson County.
