I am not sure many people thought Keion Brooks Jr. would be back at Kentucky for the 2022-23 season. However, I think most expected it would be because he would transfer to another school, not keep his name in the NBA draft.

But Brooks told Adam Zagoria during a Zoom call from the NBA G League Camp in Chicago Monday that he was “all in” for the draft. He said his agent had encouraged him to also put his name in the transfer portal just to keep his options open.

“We didn’t want to close the door on anything, you never know what could happen,” Brooks said on the Zoom call. “But I couldn’t even tell you who’s recruiting me or who’s reaching out (via the transfer portal) because I just let my parents handle it all.”

“So that’s the thing with college and this is the NBA process. I’m just working every day to try to get better.”

Brooks was good at Kentucky but often not good enough to keep everyone happy. He averaged 10.8 points and 4.4 rebounds per game as a junior last season and 10.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game when he was a sophomore.

During the Zoom call Brooks revealed he had already had workouts for Golden State and Sacramento. He’s also expecting to do more workouts before the NBA Draft in June.

Brooks said he “prides himself” on knowing how to play basketball.

“High energy, knowing where to be, cutting, getting offensive rebounds, getting the open shot, that type of stuff and you build on that,” he said on the call.

Brooks would love to land an invitation to the upcoming NBA Draft Combine because that would give him another chance to prove to NBA personnel what he can do.
