Peyton’s Power on Display in Lyon’s District Semifinal Win

Peyton Williams had four hits and five RBIs for the season going into the postseason.

The Lyon County freshman smacked a pair of home runs and drove in six runs to lead the Lyons to a 15-3 win over Livingston Central in Monday’s semifinal.  Lyon County will play Trigg County in Tuesday’s 6 pm championship game.

Williams broke a 2-2 tie in the second inning with a two-run shot to left. Up 12-3 in the sixth inning, he ended the game with a three-run blast to left.

Lyon County’s offensive attack consisted of nine hits, six walks, and four hit batters. They scored nine runs in the final two innings to break open a 6-3 contest.

Livingston Central opened the scoring with a two-run single by Skylar Padon. Zion Meyers and Luke Vinson had Livingston’s other two Cardinal hits.

Eli Baker had two hits and three RBI for the Lyons, who won for the 25th time in 31 games. Baker also got the pitching win by allowing three unearned runs and three hits in six innings. He struck out nine and walked three in running his record to 6-3.

Lyon County has now won eight straight games over Livingston Central dating back to the 2018 season.
