HCA Sweeps Friday Doubleheader from Lawrenceburg

The Heritage Christian Warriors “flexed” their bats Friday on the first day of a two-day road trip. The Warriors reached 18 runs in consecutive games as they picked up a pair of wins over Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg.

In the opener, the Warriors scored in each of their four at-bats as they rolled to an 18-1 win. HCA plated four runs in the first, five in the second, six in the third, and four more in the top of the fourth.

Carson Powell led the offensive attack, going 2-3 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs. Weston Powell was 2-2 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Grant Floyd was 2-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored. J.J. Thompson added three hits for the Warriors.

Carson Powell pitched all four innings of the game, giving up just one run on one hit, striking out nine, and walking only one.

The second game was more of the same for HCA. The Warriors scored 15 runs over three innings as they completed the sweep with a 15-0 win. HCA scored a run in the first followed by seven runs in the second and seven more in the third.

Grant Floyd and Carter Glover had two hits each to lead the Warriors. Weston Powell and Trentin Fowler each had 3 RBIs apiece.

On the mound, J.J. Thompson pitched three innings, giving up just one hit while striking out eight and walking two.
