Fort Campbell Repeats as Region Track and Field Champs

The Fort Campbell Falcons repeated as Class A Region 1 track and field champions Saturday as five athletes found their way to the top of the medal stand along with two relay teams.

Fort Campbell scored 159.5 points to outdistance second-place Murray (123.5) easily.

Five athletes captured region titles with Fort Campbell excelling in all standards – sprint, distance, throwing, and jumping.

The top two finishers advance to the Class A state meet with the next 10 best statewide getting at-large bids.

FORT CAMPBELL RESULTS

Amari Waddy – 1st in the triple jump (40-11); 3rd in the high jump (6-0)

Mateo Cerritos-Gatto – 1st in the 400-meter run (52.96)

William Lubas – 1st in the 800-meter run (2:07.15); 3rd in the 3200-meter run (11:36.17)

Niklas Sujanani – 1st in the 200-meter dash (23.51); 2nd in the 100-meter dash (11.51)

Lyndell Smith – 1st in the discus throw (122-06); 7th in the shot put (33-05.50)

Josh Blanton – 2nd in the 3200-meter run (11:13.65); 3rd in the 1600-meter run (4:48.07)

Kendall Reed – 2nd in the shot put (39-09.50)

Cruzy Cruz – 3rd in the long jump (18-09)

Patrick Hayes – 3rd in the pole vault (11-0); 6th in the long jump (18-02.50)

John Montalvo – 4th in the 110-meter hurdles (19.22); 5th in the pole vault (9-0)

Aidan Lindemen – 4th in the 800-meter run (2:13.91)

Darrion Hutson – 5th in the 110-meter hurdles (19.25)

Xezavier Westbrook – 5th in the high jump (5-08)

Ian Rosario – 5th in the 300-meter hurdles (46.23)

Samuel Atoubi – 6th in the 300-meter hurdles (48.13)

Leon King – 6th in the 100-meter dash (11.97); 6th in the 200-meter dash (24.75)

Seth Puraty – 7th in the 1600-meter run (5:31.11)

Ja’Torreyeon Jones – 8th in the triple jump (35-10)

Frank Boltze – 9th in the 400-meter run (1:02.94)

 

The 1600-meter relay team of Mateo Cerritos-Gatto, William Lubas, Amari Waddy, and Aidan Lindemen won the region title with a time of 3:40.66.

The 3200-meter relay team of Amari Waddy, Aidan Lindemen, William Lubas, and Josh Blanton won with a time of 8:55.46,

The 800-meter relay team of Cruzy Cruz, Niklas Sujanani, Mateo Cerritos-Gatto, and Leon King finished in second place in 1:34.78.

The 400-meter relay team of Cruzy Cruz, Niklas Sujanani, Leon King, and Mateo Cerritos-Gatto finished in second place in 45.89 seconds.
