Caldwell County’s Laken White has held many titles — captain, secretary, vice president.

This fall she becomes a president.

White has been a part of the Caldwell County Lady Tiger soccer team since her seventh grade year, when she played on the JV team.

By ninth grade, White was playing defensive center-mid for the varsity team.

She became a captain her junior year of high school and made it on the all-district and all-region teams.

However, soccer is not the only thing that White focuses on.

She is also an active member of her FFA chapter and has held numerous leadership positions including junior vice president, committee chairman, and secretary.

The Kentucky FFA Foundation announced in March that White is one of the Spring 2022 Supervised Agriculture Experience Launch Grant recipients.

State FFA officials say White’s SAE includes the showing, raising and selling of Nigerian dwarf, Boer, and Saanen goats. With the grant, White plans to utilize her Artificial Insemination Certification she received last summer and expand her goat production operation.

White was also among numerous FFA members to assist local families after the devastating Dec. 10 tornado.

“One of the main goals in FFA is community service, to go out and help your community in some way, and I think that’s exactly what we did,” she said. “We did a lot of different things. We unloaded trucks and trailers, we went to homes to help people recover any valuables they could find, we distributed donated goods.

“At first, we really didn’t know what to do, we just knew there were people who needed our help, and we wanted to help.”

White will move into an even bigger leadership role this fall. She was recently elected to serve as both the 2022-2023 Caldwell County FFA President and Pennyrile Region FFA President.
