Lori Moyd’s distinguished throwing career at Hopkinsville High School concluded with a 12th place finish Saturday at the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Class 3A State Championships at the University of Kentucky.
Moyd’s first two throws in the shot put came in at under 30 feet. Her final throw of 33-feet, 5.75-inches wasn’t far enough to qualify for the finals and was seven inches out of a medal position.
Her personal best of 35-feet, 2.25 inches came at last year’s state meet. She was two inches short of that mark at last month’s region meet and was looking to beat Suzette Ennels’ school record of 37 feet set at the 1993 state meet.
