Railroaders Rally Past Hoppers 12-11 in 10

The Fulton Railroaders rallied twice Friday night to hand the Hoptown Hoppers their first loss of the season.

Parker Estes singled home two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game at 9-9, then Landon Rogers doubled home two runs with two outs in the 10th to give the Railroaders a 12-11 victory at Lohaus Field in Fulton.

Hoptown (1-1) led 4-0 before a seven-run third inning pushed Fulton (2-0) in front.

But the Hoppers regained the lead in the top of the eighth with five runs and took a 9-7 lead to the bottom of the ninth.

After the Railroaders tied the game at 9-9, Hoptown scored twice in the top of the 10th to again have a chance to get out of town with a win.

But Fulton came up with three runs to claim the victory instead.

Rogers, from Northwest Mississippi Community College, was 3-for-6 with the two runs batted in. Estes, who plays at Murray State, was 2-for-5 and knocked in three.

Ren Tachioka had a two-run homer in the first inning to give the Hoppers a quick 2-0 lead.

Blake Loper of Northwest Mississippi was the winning pitcher for Fulton. He went the final three innings, allowing four earned runs on four base hits.

The Hoppers will play at home Saturday night against the Paducah Chiefs.
