Okay, so technically her name is Madison, but most of us know her simply as Pickle, and when you get to know her, you realize just how well the name fits her and what a special individual she is, on the field of competition and off. Her abilities on the softball field are well known and she will be headed off this fall to play for the University of Louisville after a spectacular career at Christian County High School. But, her accomplishments on the field are not all there is to this young lady, there is much more to what makes up Pickle Winkler, who is this week’s Chick-fil-A ‘Triple-A.’

On the field, Pickle passed 200 hits, 90 walks, 150 stolen bases, 100 RBIs, and 250 runs for her career. She was named 3-time All-District, 2-time All-Region, KY East/West JR/SR All-Star for 2021, a 2021 All-State Honorable Mention, a 2-time Extra Inning Softball All-American, and a 2022 Alliance Fastpitch All-Star. She was ranked #62 by Extra Inning Softball class of 2022.

Pickle also holds several career softball marks at Christian County High School.

In the classroom, she graduated as Salutatorian in a class of 290 students with a 4.49 GPA. She was a recipient of the Jim Perrin Memorial Scholarship, the US Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award, and her stoles and graduation cord for NHS, Beta, FBLA, Post Secondary Readiness, G/T, and Honor Graduate. Pickle has already completed 51 college hours and has been accepted into the University of Louisville Honors Program for the 2022 fall semester.

As you can tell, she was active off the field during her time at Christian County High School. She was a member of the Beta Club, NHS, FBLA, and served as President of Phi Theta Kappa honor society.

Her activities did not stop with just being in clubs and attending club meetings. Pickle was involved in a number of charitable efforts, somehow finding the time to help others around the community. She was involved in organizing the Phi Theta Kappa tornado relief effort for Hopkinsville Community College. Pickle also did the first-generation college student recruitment event as part of Phi Theta Kappa for HCC. And, as part of Phi Theta Kappa, she helped organize the purchasing of kids gifts for the Angel Tree program.

She has also taken part in various charity efforts with Beta and NHS, including ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. Pickle has volunteered at a local nursing home, and Sinking Fork Elementary School. She worked as a tutor at Sinking Fork Elementary this spring.

One thing you quickly learn after you meet Pickle and get to know her, is that nothing she does is done halfway. There is one gear for her, and that is running wide open, whether on the field or in whatever else she sets her mind towards doing.

That kind of energy and attitude is what brings Madison “Pickle” Winkler to be this week’s Chick-fil-A Triple A.
