Jabrion Spikes Starts for Kentucky but Indiana Rolls (w/PHOTOS)

Caldwell County’s Jabrion Spikes was in the starting lineup for the Kentucky All-Stars, but it turned into a long night against the top players from the Hoosier State.

The Indiana All-Stars had seven players score in double figures in a 104-77 victory at the Owensboro Sportscenter Friday night.

The two teams will square off again on Saturday at Southport High School in Indianapolis.

Indiana, which has dominated the series, took control of Friday’s game early and built a 48-28 lead by halftime.

Spikes struggled from the field against the tall and long Indiana squad. He finished the night with five points on 2-of-9 shooting. He missed both of his 3-point attempts.

Spikes grabbed four rebounds and dished out two assists. He also had three blocks.

Mitchell Rylee of Covington Catholic, who is headed to Miami of Ohio, led the Kentucky team with 24 points and six rebounds. Sam Powell added 17 points.

C.J. Gunn, an Indiana University recruit, had 20 points to pace the Indiana All-Stars while Ryan Conwell added 18 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Indiana Mr. Basketball Braden Smith did not play in the game due to a foot injury.

Spikes, who is headed to Georgetown College, was the first Caldwell County Tiger to play in the Kentucky-Indiana All-Star Series since Matt Fraliex in 2007.

Indiana has now taken 28 of the last 31 meetings in the series.
