Lyon County’s Calista Collins has added another All-State honor to her outstanding high school softball resume.
Collins, who has signed to play college softball at Rutgers University, was named Class A First Team All-State by the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association.
Despite opposing teams trying to take the bat out of her hands by issuing her 31 walks in 113 plate appearances, Collins batted .526 with 12 home runs and 25 RBIs. 21 of her 41 hits went for extra bases.
Collins leaves the Lyon County softball program as the all-time leader in hits, home runs, and RBIs.
While the KHSAA does not classify schools for competitive play, the state softball coaches association chooses to break down its postseason awards into three classes.
