Landon Hunt’s 72 Equals Low Round at Madisonville

Landon Hunt, a member of the Christian County High School golf team, carded a 72 on Friday to claim medalist honors in his age group at the GO Junior Golf Series event at Madisonville Country Club.

Hunt finished at 1-over par — shooting a 35 on the front nine and a 37 on the back — to claim the 13-15 championship by 14 strokes.

Jake Witherspoon of Madisonville was second in that age group at 86. Max Clayton, also of Madisonville, was next at 87.

Meanwhile, Hunt’s total tied for the low 18-hole score of the day in any age group.

Jacob Blackburn of Beaver Dam took the 16-18 competition with a 72. That was two shots better than Jax Malone of Owensboro in that division. Ben Dickerson was third on his home course with a 75.

In the boys’ 13-15 nine-hole division, Lewisport’s Jacob Shultz was medalist with a 42. Treyson Raymer of Madisonville was runner-up at 45.

In the 11-12 nine-hole group, Andrew Powell of Owensboro was first at 42 while Madisonville’s Jett Miller was second with a 46. Kyler Sneed of Madisonville was third with a 59.
