Post 68 Sweeps Two One-Run Games

Lyon County Post 68 swept a pair of one-run wins over Madisonville Post 6 Wednesday at Lee S. Jones Park.

In the opener, Post 68 only needed three hits to claim the 5-4 win.

Logan Bailey (Crittenden County HS) plated a run on a ground out, and Isaac Phillips (Union County HS) drew a bases-loaded walk to give the Aces a quick 2-0 lead.

Will Kearns (Todd County Central HS) scored a run with a groundout in the third inning.

Madisonville Post 6 broke a 3-3 tie in the fifth inning when Layton Stallons (Brescia/Christian County HS) singled home a run.

Bailey drove in the winning runs in the fifth inning with a single to center.

Cannon Sheffer (Union County HS) picked up the win for Post 68. He struck out five and allowed three earned runs in seven innings.

In the nightcap, Post 68 drew two consecutive bases-loaded walks to earn a walk-off 11-10 win.

With two outs, Isaac Peca (Trigg County HS) and Trenton Hayes (Heritage Christian Academy) coaxed the game-winning walks.

Zion LaGrone (Paducah Tilghman HS) had two hits and three RBI, and Peca had a hit and two runs batted in.

Paxton Gardner (Henderson County HS) had three hits for Madisonville Post 6 (5-12).

Dakota Lamb (University of the Cumberlands/Livingston Central HS) got the win with two innings of scoreless relief.

Post 68 (11-5) returns to action Thursday with a home doubleheader with South Fulton, Tenn.
