Could Lance Ware provide 3-point shooting help for Kentucky next season?

The easy answer seems to be no. Ware had enough trouble scoring around the basket his first two years at UK but he insists on a recent Sports Reach trip to Brazil that he actually worked both on his 3-point shooting and mid-range shot along with a jump shot which would seem to make more sense.

Kentucky reported that Ware averaged 30 points and eight rebounds during his three games in Brazil. Ware was not quite so sure about the point total but did agree he scored enough to boost his confidence.

“It wasn’t easy. You think people in the U.S. play hard. But it’s a whole different level of playing hard over there. I thought I played hard. But the people we were playing against were adults. … They played super hard (and) super physical,” he said.

“I’m going to, obviously, try to bring some of that (scoring) back. Can’t bring it all back because on every team you have a role. And I’m going to do what’s my role and do the best I can. I had fun. It showed me I’m capable of some stuff. I just need to believe more in myself.”

Ware admits he’s lacked confidence at times his first two years at UK but also hopes the upcoming exhibition games in the Bahamas give him a boost next season.

“It’s going to help me a lot being able to go out there and show skill early in the preseason,” he said.

  1. Lance could add to our scoring effort if our guards would feed the post. Playing inside/out always leads to better scoring opportunities and keeps everyone involved. It also improves the defense when they are kept in the offense. Our guards take way too many bad shots when better shots were available to others if a pass was made. This, more than anything else, has led to the shortcomings of our basketball team over the past 6 years. Guards trying to improve their NBA draft stock at the expense of the team will be the ruin of our elite status if not checked soon. Calipari encourages this type of play to promote his pets.
