The Hoptown Hoppers saw their late season winning streak come to an abrupt end Tuesday evening. The Full Count Rhythm scored 13 straight runs from the third inning through the eighth inning as they overcame an early 5-1 deficit and took a 14-6 home field win. The loss ended a five game winning streak for Hoptown.

The Hoppers came out like they were going to keep their sizzling play of late rolling on. Ren Tachioka and Josh Rodriguez opened the night with back-to-back doubles. An RBI single later in the first inning by Jacob Dupps would give Hoptown a 3-0 lead after ½ inning.

After Full Count cut the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the first, Hoptown got the bats going again in the third. Following a lead-off walk to Luis Vergara Schoonewolf, Ronald Brown took one over the right field fence to move the Hoppers’ lead out to 5-1. Then the wheels came off the wagon for the Hoppers.

The Rhythm strung together four straight hits in the bottom of the third, two of them being home runs, as Full Count pulled even at 5-5. Four straight walks and an RBI single in the fifth inning pushed the lead out to 8-5. The Rhythm then put the game away in the bottom of the 7th, using five walks and a 3-run double to blow the lead out to 13-5. For good measure, Full Count added one more insurance run in the bottom of the 8th with another home run.

The Hoppers would plate one run in the top of the ninth but it was nowhere near enough as Full Count took the win.

Eight different Hoppers came up with a hit in the game. Ronald Brown and Jacob Dupps drove in two runs each for Hoptown.

Control was an issue for the Hoppers pitching staff in the game. Six Hoptown pitchers were charged with a total of 11 walks for the night. None of the six went more than three innings. Jacob Dilday was charged with the loss for Hoptown.
