The Caldwell County track team doled out awards for the 2022 season at its annual banquet Thursday at the CCHS cafeteria.
Award winners included Ethan Weatherspoon, Athlete of the Year, Male; Avery Wells, Athlete of the Year, Female; Isaiah Joyner, Top Jump Event Athlete, Male; T.J. Goodwin, Top Jump Event Athlete, Female; Cooper Mobley, Top Thrower, Male; Emma Ward, Top Thrower, Female; Gabriel Schirmer, Top Distance Runner, Male; Kylee White, Top Distance Runner, Female; GeoVante Riley, Top Sprinter, Male; Med Thomas and Amaya Merritt, Top Sprinter, Female.
Caldwell track coach Steve Shaw recognized his seniors from this past season. They are Filippo Taccola, Gabriel Schirmer, Addyson Schott, Amaya Merritt, GeoVannie Riley, Jordan Ladd, GeoVante Riley, Isaiah Joyner, Elijah Shaheen and Ethan Weatherspoon.
Before the banquet, three athletes signed to continue their track careers in college. GeoVante Riley and Isaiah Joyner signed with Campbellsville University while Ethan Weatherspoon signed with Centre College.
