Cathryn Brown is in the Chicagoland area this week competing at the 46th National Junior PGA Tournament at the historic Cog Hill Golf Course in Palos Park, Illinois.

Brown qualified for the national event by winning the Kentucky Junior PGA Tournament in June at the Arlington Club in Richmond.

The four-day event begins Tuesday with the field to be reduced in half after the cut.  The winner will receive exemptions to the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, and the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley.

The top 10 will be exempt for the 2023 Junior PGA Tournament and those in the top 15 are granted fully exempt status with the AJGA.

Cog Hill has been awarded “America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses” by Golf Digest and is rated the best course in Illinois.

Cathryn joins defending KHSAA state champion Macie Brown of Bullitt East as the two Kentuckians in the field.

The Lyon County High school senior talked about playing in the national event in this YSE interview.
