The Fort Campbell boys soccer team stayed on the sidelines during a Covid-plagued 2020 season before returning to the field with a 4-7 record last season.  The Falcons won three of five games down the stretch of the regular season before falling to Hopkinsville in the opening round of the 8th-District tournament.  The program’s last postseason victory came in 2016 when the Falcons prevailed 1-0 over Christian County in a penalty kick shootout.

Fort Campbell lost four seniors to graduation, including third-leading scorer Leon King, but return a core of nine contributors from the previous campaign.  Leading the way is senior multi-sport standout Aidan Blaszkowski, who scored 10 of the team’s 21 goals a season ago on the way to an All-District nod.  Fellow senior All-District nominee John Montalvo also returns to his central midfield spot.

Junior Dason Tate is also back in the midfield for the Falcons, with sophomores Mateo Cerritos-Gatto and Alonso Alfaro ready to man the wing positions again this year.

Senior Dylan Linnemeier is the elder statesman of four returning defenders, joining junior Eric Marr, sophomore Ryan Brewer, and Chase Cribbett on the back line.  The Falcons allowed just over three and a half goals per game last season.

First-year head coach Andrea Simmons also expects help from Brady Sharp in midfield and Joziah Jardiolin on the wing.

The season’s opening weeks will be heavy on district competition, beginning with a matchup with University Heights Academy to get things started on August 11.  The teams will meet again in the 2nd Region All-A Classic five days later.
