Landon Hunt’s Career Best Score Claims Colonel Invitational Title

8-5-landon-hunt

Landon Hunt’s lowest round of his career led to his first career golf invitational win Friday as the Christian County High School freshman won the Colonel Invitational at Western Hills Golf Course.

Hunt was the only golfer to shoot under par with his 1-under 70 one shot better than Marshall County teammates D.J. Morris and Ryan Stokes.

The field had to endure rain throughout the early part of the round before the weather subsided mid-round for most golfers.

Hunt’s win came against three Region I favorites – Morris, his teammate Trey Wall, and Trigg County’s Hunter Reynolds. Another Region I golfer – McCracken County’s Tyler Dew – was two shots back.

Hunt, who finished third at last year’s region meet, has now positioned himself as one of the favorites in Region II.

Drew Fincham had Christian County’s next lowest score with a 95. Other Colonels were Tay Martinez (107), Talan Ezell (111), and Jaedon McMillan (135).

As a team, all five of Marshall County’s golfers shot 78 or better and finished with a score of 290 – 15 shots better than second place McCracken County.

South Warren (312) edged Daviess County for third place
