While it was not a win, it was a match that continues to show how much progress the Todd County Central Rebels are making. The Rebels’ defense limited Owensboro Catholic to just one goal Saturday as Todd County Central played the Aces to a 1-1 draw in Owensboro.
The two teams battled back and forth in the first half with both teams missing chances to take the early lead. The Rebels and the Aces would be knotted up at 0-0 at the break.
Catholic seemed to take the momentum about the midway point of the second half when the Aces took advantage of the Rebels missing a clear-out opportunity to score their only goal and take a 1-0 lead.
However, the Rebels responded just about five minutes later when Chris Salazar sent in a free kick from about 30 yards out that was picked up by Aaron Mansfield. Mansfield then crossed a pass in front of the goal that was scored by Cam Wheelock.
Todd Central would have a couple of chances over the final 15 minutes to get to the lead, but could not get the ball to find the net.
Jonah Rager had a big day for the Rebels in goal in limiting the Aces to just one score on the day.
The Rebels now stand at 2-0-1. They will be back on the road Tuesday when they travel to take on Logan County.
