Lady Blazers Sweep Past Hopkins Central in Opener

University Heights Academy swept its way to a season-opening volleyball victory at Hopkins County Central on Monday.

The Lady Blazers picked up a 25-11, 25-11, 25-18 win over the Lady Storm.

UHA produced 17 aces, 20 kills, 20 digs and three blocks to earn the triumph.

Junior setter Sarah Peebles had 10 set assists, one dig and led the team in aces with eight. Second in aces was seventh grader Chayse Ann Gilliland with four. Gilliland also had a kill and a block assist.

Junior Julia Thomas led in kills at the net with nine out of 14 attempts with no errors. Thomas added a block assist, a dig and a service ace.

Sophomore Olivia Oakley recorded seven kills on 13 sets, an ace, three digs and two block assists. Junior Suzie Comperry killed three and aced three.

Dig leader for the night was junior Evelyn Cotthoff, who played libero two sets and dug 11 balls.

University Heights has taken six straight matches from Hopkins Central.

The Lady Blazers will return to action this weekend in Owensboro. UHA is guaranteed six matches in the Apollo Summer Slam.
