The Caldwell County Tigers will play for the 2nd Region All A Classic soccer championship after posting a shutout in semifinal action Tuesday night.

Caldwell’s guys got a hat trick from senior Grayden Miller and turned back Heritage Christian Academy of Hopkinsville 4-0 at Butler Stadium in Princeton.

Miller’s goal in the 3rd minute, off an assist from Colt Babb, was the only scoring of the first half as the Tigers went to the break with a mere 1-0 edge.

HCA had a chance to tie the game in the 13th minute, but a penalty kick sailed over the crossbar.

Miller struck again in the 47th minute for Caldwell and got his third goal in the 55th minute to record his hat trick. Weston Phelps assisted on both of those goals as Caldwell opened up some breathing room at 3-0.

Weston Graham added an insurance goal in the 67th minute to make it 4-0. Deacon Carter picked up an assist.

Corbin Nichols recorded five saves while picking up the shutout in the Tiger net.

Caldwell outshot Heritage Christian just 6-4 in the first 40 minutes, but finished the night with a 16-6 advantage in that department.

The Tigers are now 1-0-1 this season. They are scheduled to face University Heights Academy in the championship on Thursday at Fort Campbell, but there is a possibility that date may change.

UHA advanced to the title match by blanking Lyon County 5-0 in semifinal action on Tuesday.

Caldwell won its only 2nd Region All A championship in 2015.
