Madisonville, Henderson Ranked 1-2 in Preseason Region Volleyball Poll

Madisonville has been voted the preseason number one team in the Second Region by the members of the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association.

The Lady Maroons graduated one starter from last year’s 21-9 team that advanced to the region tournament semifinals.

Henderson County, winners of six of the last seven region titles, is ranked second in the region in the poll. The Lady Colonels were 30-10 last year and have a new coach this year – Gabriel Weiss.

Caldwell County is ranked No. 3 in the region and coming off a 20-19 season that saw them advance to the region semifinals. The Lady Tigers are the only school to interrupt Henderson County’s run of region titles.

Webster County, the team that eliminated Caldwell last year, is ranked fourth in the region. They were 19-16 last year and advanced to the school’s first-ever region championship.

University Heights Academy returns all six starters from last year’s 20-14 team that won the district title. The Lady Blazers are ranked fifth in the poll.

McCracken County is the No. 1 team in the First Region and carries a No. 5 ranking in the statewide coaches’ poll.  Christian Fellowship is ranked second followed by Community Christian, Mayfield, and Calloway County.

Logan County is ranked No. 4 in the Fourth Region preseason poll and is the only non-Warren County school in the top five.
