The Caldwell County Lady Tiger soccer team is 7-2-2 after holding off University Heights Academy 1-0 Thursday night at Butler Stadium.

Caldwell scored the game’s only goal early in the second half, with Tallie Branch finding the net on a shot from outside the box.

Rachel McClung recorded 16 saves in the Lady Tiger net and Caldwell’s defense came up with several big plays late to thwart UHA’s offensive attack.

UHA (3-3-1) generated several scoring chances in the final minutes, including one shot that rang off the crossbar. But the Lady Tigers were able to hang on for the shutout.

It was Caldwell’s second win over the Lady Blazers this season. The Lady Tigers won 3-1 in an All A Classic regional semifinal matchup earlier this season at Butler Stadium.

Caldwell has narrowed the gap in the all-time series, but UHA still leads 16-12-1.

The Lady Tigers play at home again on Monday, facing 7th District rival Hopkins County Central.

University Heights is scheduled to travel to Ohio County on Monday.
