University Heights Academy turned in its second straight respectable performance at the All A Classic State Golf Tournament Saturday. UHA finished in seventh place at the Golf Club at Arlington in Richmond.

UHA finished fifth last year but only returned two golfers from that squad for the 2022 season.

The UHA team began its day on the back nine and got off to a strong start. Rheagan Lindsey birdied three of her first holes and made the turn at 2-under.

Conlee Lindsey mixed a birdie in with four bogeys and turned at 3-over.  Three Lady Blazers — Ava Roberts, Allie Sandifer, and Campbell Lindsey — were playing in their first All A state tourney and had respectable starts.  Roberts had a 53 on her first nine, Sandifer a 58, and Campbell Lindsey a 63.

The overcast skies gave way to a light rain over the final nine holes.

Conlee Lindsey matched her 39 on the first nine with a 39 on the front nine, which played tougher. She finished 1-under on her final three holes and 6-over for the round. It was her best All A state score by six shots and good for a tie for seventh place.

Rheagan Lindsey struggled after the turn with consecutive double-bogeys that dropped her from the lead. However, she rallied to shoot 2-over-par over her final nine holes and finished with a round of 81, which was good for a tie for 11th place.

The Lady Blazer senior was playing in her school-record sixth All A State Golf Tournament. Her first round as a 7th grader came in at 123.  Saturday’s round was her best All A score by six shots and her finish was a career-best at the tourney.

Sandifer tied for 67th place with a score of 120. Roberts was 70th with a 125. Campbell Lindsey tied for 72nd with a 127.

Ballard Memorial’s Madison Glisson won the tourney with an even-par 72.

As a team. UHA finished at +116 to tie for seventh place. Lexington Christian won at +25, 13 shots better than second place Owen County. Murray was third at +75.
