
The University Heights Academy Lady Blazers will face teams from the 5th, 12th, and 7th Region when they begin pool play Friday at the All A Classic state volleyball tournament in Richmond. The Lady Blazers are back in the tournament for the first time since 2018.
The Lady Blazers will open play Friday evening at 6:00 on the main court in McBrayer Arena. UHA will square off against 5th Region champion Bethlehem. The Banshees are 12-4 going into a Thursday night match against North Hardin. Their four losses have come to Louisville Holy Cross and three Tennessee teams at a tournament in Knoxville earlier this season. Wins for Bethlehem include victories over Christian Academy of Louisville, Green County, Washington County, and Nelson County.
Their second pool match Friday is at 7:30pm when they take on Kentucky Country Day at the EKU Student Rec Center. Going into a scheduled match back on Tuesday evening against Highlands Latin, the Lady Bearcats were 5-2 on the season. The two losses came at the hands of Christian Academy of Louisville and Bullitt East. Among the wins were victories over Eminence, Butler, and Beth Haven.
The Lady Blazers will then wrap up pool play Saturday morning with a match against Somerset Christian at 8:30 back on the main court at McBrayer Arena. The Lady Cougars enter the state tournament with a record of 10-2. The losses came to Southwestern and Scott Count. Among the ten wins are victories against Clinton County, Wayne County, West Carter, and Scott County.
The winners and runners-up from each of the four pools will advance to the championship bracket, while the third and fourth place teams in each of the pools will play in the consolation bracket.
The All A State tournament is being played at Eastern Kentucky University.
