After losing senior Lucy Chester to a wrist injury during their first match of the 2022 All A Classic state volleyball tournament Friday night, Saturday was bound to be a challenging day for the Todd County Central Lady Rebes. Even with the challenges, the Lady Rebels had their chances to make some good things happen, it was just not meant to be their weekend in Richmond.

The Lady Rebels ended their trip to Eastern Kentucky University with a pool play loss to Eminence and then fell in the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket to Bishop Brossart to end their appearance in this year’s tourney.

In the match against Eminence, the Lady Rebels gave the Lady Warriors all they could handle in the first set, before Eminence finally took the set 25-22 to go up one set to none in the match.

The second set was pretty much Lady Warriors from beginning to end. Eminence would close out the match with a 25-14 win in the set. Lynnlee Jones had a solid match for the Lady Rebels, finishing with five kills. Lanie Bivins added four. Addileigh Wofford had 14 assists and two service aces for Todd Central.

With the loss against Eminence, the Lady Rebels moved into the consolation bracket as the #4 seed in their pool and were matched up against the Lady Mustangs from Bishop Brossart, led by sophomore Corrine Blackburn.

The Lady Mustangs withstood the challenge from the Lady Rebels in the opening set. Bishop Brossart took the set 25-20 to take a one set to none lead in the match.

The second set was another hard-fought battle, this time, however, it was the Lady Rebels coming out ahead with a 25-23 win to even the match at one set each.

Early in the final set, it looked as if it would come right down to the wire. With Lanie Bivins and Addileigh Wofford leading the charge, the set was back and forth for the first half. Then, with the Lady Rebels leading 12-10, Bishop Brossart went on a 13-2 run and seized firm control of the match. The Lady Mustangs would end up winning the set 25-15 and claiming the match two sets to one.

For the day, with Lucy Chester out of the lineup, some younger Lady Rebels saw the chance to play and contribute. Callista Chapman and Allyssa Wofford both gave Coach Steve Lyne some big minutes for the day.

Todd Central now stands at 11-6 on the season. The Lady Rebels are back on the court Monday night when they host Christian County on Senior Night.
