On senior night for the Trigg County Wildcats, it was their freshman goalie that nearly helped them pick up a big 2nd Region win. The University Heights Academy Blazers would score three unanswered goals to come from behind and take a 3-1 win Monday night at the Trigg County Recreation Complex.

The three goals for the Blazers did not come easy as Trigg goalie Cameron McCormick had a big night in goal, turning away a significant number of UHA scoring opportunities, keeping the Wildcats in the contest up until the waning moments.

Trigg took the lead in the contest when Marlee Reeves found the net at the 14:00 mark to put the Wildcats up 1-0.

The Blazers broke through at the 26:00 mark when Ethan Hale scored off an assist from Matthew Hauret to even the match at 1-1.

UHA took the lead right before the break when Hauret found the net, giving the Blazers the 2-1 lead.

For a big part of the second half, the two teams battled each other, with neither being able to find the net again. UHA got an insurance goal at the 66:00 mark when Nic Luckey scored to move the lead out to 3-1.

The Blazers had chances to extend the lead further coming down the stretch, but McCormick kept the door closed for the Wildcats.

UHA moves to 7-5 with the win. The Blazers host Hopkinsville in a district battle Tuesday night.
