If points were awarded for controlling the pace of play and the number of shots on goal, the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers would have likely won their Monday night match against Hopkins Central by halftime. The problem is they only award points for putting the ball in the goal.

Despite controlling the flow of play in the opening half, the UHA Lady Blazers could not find the net and it would cost them as Hopkins Central erupted for five second half goals and picking up a big 5-0 win on Givens Field.

For the first 40 minutes, it felt like the Lady Blazers should have had a five or six goal lead of their own. They kept the Lady Storm back on their heels and had several good shot opportunties but just could not get those shots to go.

When the teams came back after the break, it was the Lady Storm who seized control of the night.

Central scored on a penalty kick at the 46:00 mark to take the 1-0 lead. The Lady Storm scored three more over the next 15 minutes to go up 4-0. They would add an insurance goal at 72:00 to make it 5-0.

The Lady Blazers fall to 4-5-1 with the loss. They return to action Thursday night when they host McCracken County.
