After firing a 1-over 36 over the first nine holes at Indian Hills Country Club in Bowling Green on Monday, Todd County Central senior Jase Paul Hampton finished 9th to lead the Rebels at the Region 3 Golf Tournament.
Hampton was tied for 1st when he made the turn, and shot a 41 on the back to finish with a 6-over 77. The top two teams and the next ten individuals qualify for state, and Hampton was right on the line as he walked onto the green on 18 looking to save par. He drained the putt, avoiding what would be a four-way playoff for the final three spots.
Bowling Green shot a 298 to take the team title, six shots better than Greenwood. Allen County-Scottsville’s Rafe Blankenship was the only player under par with a 69.
The Rebels finished 9th with a score of 334. Preston Rager followed Hampton with an 82 to finish in a tie for 31st. Cole Sawyer shot an 87, Noah Rager finished with an 88, and Jacob Brandon rounded out the scoring with a 93.
