After struggling some earlier in the season, the Caldwell County Tiger defense appears to be finding its stride on the pitch. The Tigers gave up only one goal in two matches Saturday as they took 2nd place at the Colonel Showcase hosted by Christian County High School at the Stadium of Champions.

Both Hopkinsville and Caldwell County finished the day, but the difference in points given for goals scored turned out to be the difference between first and second place. Each team built up 12 points for the two wins. Hopkinsville scored 14 goals which earned them six points. Caldwell County scored 3 goals for three points and earned an extra point for a shutout win.

The Tigers opened their day against the host Colonels. The match was close from beginning to end, but it would be Caldwell County coming away with the 2-1 win.

After a break for lunch, Caldwell County came back and the defense tightened up even more, as the Tigers shut out Graves County 1-0.

With the two victories, Caldwell County improves to 6-6-2 on the season. The Tigers have won 5 of their last 7 matches.

The Tigers will start the final week of the regular season Tuesday when they travel to Fort Campbell.
