The Hopkinsville Tigers had a pretty good day Saturday with a pair of wins at the annual Colonel Showcase at the Stadium of Champions. And, by virtue of the total number of points earned in those two matches, Hopkinsville took the championship from the event, outdistancing Caldwell County 18 points to 12 points.
Both teams picked up two wins, but the number of goals scored allowed Hoptown to take the overall title.
In their opener of the day, the Tigers cruised past Lyon County 10-3. Hopkinsville ran out to a 6-0 lead and just cruised on from there.
The match with Mayfield was a battle, but Hopkinsville was able to come away with a 4-3 win.
Hoptown goes to 8-7-1 with the two wins. The Tigers will open the final week of the regular season Tuesday night when they host Hopkins Central on Senior Night.
