Madisonville put four runners in the top seven and easily claimed the team title at Saturday’s Marshall County invitational in Draffenville.
It served as a good tuneup for the Maroons, who will return to the same course for the region meet on October 22.
Drew Burden posted the victory with a time of 16:39 on the 3.1-mile course. Maddox Knight was fifth in 17:22, edging his teammate Lucas Offutt by just over a half second.
Dakota Evans was in seventh place, a second back. Broderick Duncan finished in 15th place in 18:09, and Gavin Beard was 57th in 19:49 as Madisonville’s top six runners all came in under the 20-minute mark.
As a team, Madisonville crushed the competition with a team with a score of 29 points, finishing 100 points better than second-place Cape Girardeau (Mo.) Notre Dame and 102 points better than region rival McCracken County.
