As the regular season winds down and postseason play looms, the Caldwell County boys’ soccer team appears to be hitting its stride.  With a 6-2 victory over hosts Fort Campbell on Tuesday, the Tigers extend their winning run to three and move to 7-6-2 ahead of a visit from Lyon County on Thursday.

However, it was the Falcons on the scoreboard first on Tuesday when Alonso Alfaro had his shot saved by Caldwell goalkeeper Corbin Nichols and Aidan Blaszkowski was at the back post to punch home the loose ball.

The Tigers answered in the 9th minute on a goal by Haiden Ball off an assist from Weston Phelps, but Fort Campbell was in front again midway through the half when Joziah Jardiolin headed in a corner kick by Robert Klotz.

With less than two minutes to play in the half, Christian Jones played a long ball over the top of the Falcon defense and Grayden Miller scored to tie the match at the break.

Miller added his second just after halftime, getting on the end of Corbin Nichols’ punt to score and give the Tigers their first lead of the night.  Miller’s next goal came after Colt Babb won the ball in the midfield and rolled a pass through the Falcon defense for a 4-2 edge.

Jones and Timothy Nichols tacked on the final two goals, cleaning up balls in the box after the Falcons couldn’t clear their lines.

Corbin Nichols made four stops for the Tigers.  Dominic Medrano finished with seven saves for the Falcons.

Fort Campbell dropped its second straight to slip to 3-7.  The Falcons will wrap up the regular season on the road at Hopkins County Central on Thursday and Madisonville-North Hopkins on Saturday.
