Conlee Lindsey overcame a slow start and then had a strong finish Tuesday at the first round of the KHSAA state golf tournament in Owensboro.
The University Heights Academy sophomore shot an 11 over par 83 and qualified for next week‘s final rounds at the Bowling Green Country Club.
Lindsey began her day with a triple bogey on the 10th hole and struggled on her first nine holes, shooting a 45.
She then found her footing at the turn where she birdied two of her first four holes and added three pars to shoot a 2-over-par-38.
Lindsey missed the cut at last year’s state tournament but she is guaranteed two rounds this year under the new format adopted by the KHSAA. Lindsey will begin play on October 7 at the Bowling Green Country Club.
