When Caldwell County and Calloway County met earlier this season in Princeton, the two teams played to a 2-2 draw.

The Lakers returned to Butler Stadium on Thursday as a late replacement for the Tigers’ Senior Night contest.

This time, Calloway scored three times in the first 18 minutes, built a 5-0 halftime lead, and went on to defeat Caldwell 7-1 in the regular-season finale.

The Tigers will take a 7-7-2 record into district tournament play next week.

Calloway (11-5-2) got four goals from Jude Bazzell in the victory. Ivan Damian, Canaan Bazzell and Bo Stom had one goal each.

Damian, Stom, Jude Bazzell, Kolt Bazzell and Braden Lamb each recorded one assist.

Caldwell broke up the shutout in the 68th minute when Nick Adams scored off an assist from Ben Jones.

The Tigers had originally been scheduled to face Lyon County on Thursday, but the Lyons had to pull out of that game after reaching their regular-season limit of 21 matches earlier this week.

Caldwell will host the 7th District tournament next week. The Tigers will take on Hopkins County Central in the tourney opener Monday at 7:30.
