The girls’ 8th District soccer tournament could be one of the most wide-open affairs in recent memory. The tournament gets underway Monday evening at Fryar Stadium at Fort Campbell.

The first game Monday night will find the UHA Lady Blazers taking on the Christian County Lady Colonels. The top-seeded Lady Blazers are 3-0 in district play and have a 1-0 win over the Lady Colonels on September 24. One point of note, the Lady Blazers have two players who were starters at the beginning of the season who are no longer with the team.

Audrey Perry leads the Lady Blazers with 11 goals scored. Audrey Grise has 10.

While the Lady Colonels are 0-3 in district play, it is noteworthy that all three of those losses were one-goal losses. In addition to the 1-0 loss to UHA, Christian County lost 3-2 to Hopkinsville and 3-2 to Fort Campbell.

Cayleigh Clay and Alayah Lander are the leading goal scorers for the Lady Colonels.

The second semifinal has the second-seeded Fort Campbell Lady Falcons taking on the third-seeded Hopkinsville Lady Tigers. The two teams met back on August 30 with the Lady Falcons taking a 2-1 win at Fryar Stadium.

Fort Campbell finished 2-1 in district play, with their only loss coming by a 2-1 score at University Heights. The Lady Tigers went 1-2 in district play and saw a mid-season coaching change when Jeff Addison returned to the sidelines September 9.

Anna Allen leads the Lady Falcons with 22 goals scored.

Morgan Woosley is the leading goal-scorer for the Lady Tigers with 8 goals on the season.

The girls 8th District championship match is set for Wednesday evening at 6:00pm at Fryar Stadium.
