The Fifth District girls’ soccer tournament is full of storylines as play begins Monday at Josh Nichols Field at Trigg County.

The Monday semifinal features two seed Crittenden County and third seed Lyon County. Crittenden got the two seed after sweeping the Lady Lyons during the regular season. It’s the first time in six years the Lady Rockets have won two in a row against Lyon.

In the first match-up on September 8, freshman Ella Gary scored the game-winner in overtime to give Crittenden a 3-2 win in Eddyville.  A week later, Elizabeth Campbell had four goals as the Lady Rockets shut out Lyon 5-0.

Campbell, a junior, leads the Lady Rockets with 23 goals while Taylor Guess has scored 20 and assisted on 16 others. Geary scored 16 goals and Raven Hayes has a team-tying 16 assists.

Crittenden County set a school record with 10 wins during the regular season and will be looking for its first district title since 2015.

Lyon County has won three of the last four district titles and brings an 8–11 record into Monday’s semifinal. Sophomore Alice Smith has scored 39 goals for the Lady Lyons with Anna White adding 14.

Lyon County has not missed the region tournament since 2015.

Monday’s winner will face top-seed Trigg County in Tuesday’s championship match at 5:30. The Lady Wildcats lead the region with 13 wins against two losses and one tie. They were unbeaten in district play although two of those wins were a 4-2 win over Crittenden County and a 2-1 win over Lyon County.

Junior Lania Hite leads the Lady Wildcats with 41 goals while younger sister Leiah has 16 goals and a school record 20 assists. Olivia Nofsinger (14) and Addison Humphries (12) have also scored in double figures this year.

Trigg County will be looking for its first district title in two years. Both the district winner and runner-up will advance to next week’s region tournament at the Stadium of Champions.
